Software
Download the Serato DJ Lite software for free and play around with it a little bit to see if you like DJing or not. It has a mode for practicing that doesn’t require any hardware, and you can use it to learn the software and make sure your computer runs it well.
Music
Here are some of the most common places DJs go to download high quality music. Most serious DJs play lossless quality: WAV, FLAC, ALAC, AIFF. If you play MP3 or other lossy formats they should be above 320kbs. Playing low quality songs result in the highs and lows of the songs not sounding as good.

Below is what you’d need to DJ a show, or DJ in your house, besides the laptop and songs. If you are playing at an established DJ venue they will typically have the speakers, and cables, so you would just need your laptop, music, controller, and headphones.
You will also need 2 mono RCA cables that will run from the master outs on the back of the SB3 controller to your speakers. The cable type you need depends on your speaker inputs.
